A U M, for LOADINGFEST 2020, Porto, 2020.
In collaboration with Irina Pereira.
Installation/ Performance evolving diverse costumes, masks and textile compositions.
This is an diverse installation and performance Irina and me created during the spring early Summer, when the world had to face for the first time the global situation of a pandemic and everyone had to learn to live with its tremendous effects on cultural and artistic life. We created three worlds, mainly through the use of textiles. Each world is inhabited by a creature with three faces and three bodies. The photography tends to capture its movements and emotions through performative and experimental enactment.
“In the shadows of our caves, we form a trio of places and characters. That are both in common and part of a collection of memories and individual imaginations. The body or sum is the main tool with which to assimilate and experience all states of the day and all states of time: it allows you to see colors and color. Yesterday’s memory, though, is monochromatic in vision but busy in action. The body cares to feel and remember the sensations but the colors of that memory go to the background. There is also a place far from day and night. Such a place is immaterial and a mere chimera of the spirit. An essay about being at home and not being at the same time.”
